TV3 Reporter Ali Ikram’s musical take on the Tuhoe raids tells us a few things.
Akram sang (in the loosest possible sense) a parody of the Tuhoe raids to the tune of “Let’s hear it for the boy”

Well we know now that;
A) in the job interview at TV3 he was not asked to sing.
B) This is another example of ‘dumbing down the media’
C) This attempt at karaoke belittles serious news and events
D) All of the above.

Akram’s singing really is truly, truly appalling. It is hoped that he has never sung in public before and will never do so again.

Simon Cowell of American Idol fame has apparently heard the clip on YouTube and for the first time he can remember was absolutely speechless.

V for viral

Well Frucor has got a new viral campaign. It is centered on asking customers what they would do with $100K and a pallet of V. The campaign is called the people's republic of V.

A profile has been created on social-networking site Bebo. I think it misses the mark for a few reasons.

Firstly, when you get a membership tag you are offered 2x 250ml cans of V for $5.50 from participating service stations - hardly a bargain when they are $2.20 at the local diary.

The other thing is the disjointed nature of the campaign - when you have a 'conversation' - with your audience and ask them what they'd do with $100K and a pallet of V, then you'd better be prepared for some silly ideas.

Here's my silly idea. Hmmm, pallet of V and $100K? Well I'd try to sell it. (Seems Frucor is trying to sell at least a pallet too) as for the money? Well maybe $100K worth of advertising and PR...

Well we've heard that James Coleman is on the box at breakfast time to "attract younger viewers" really? I mean, he must be on the verge of 40. Mean while, across town on that other breakfast show, Pippa Wetzel (who must actually be at least a decade younger than Coleman) isn't so much attracting a younger demographic, as more of a male based one...

I walked past the town hall last night. It had the potential to be an even bigger make up eco-disaster than Fall Out Girl. There was a lot of make up, and even a higher number of black T-shirts. In fact, I think that was the only colour T-shirt at all.

It's too early to judge this new breakfast televison show. So I won't. The only thing that we can tell for certain is that James Coleman has lost a LOT of hair since he's last been on our screens. This begs the question, why doesn't he just shave it all off?

John Key's "Bushism"

John Key's most well known recent gaffe was the one in which he refered to himself as the next leader of the Labour party.

Well he made another one last week. On 'Breakfast', TV 1, Wednesday 26 September. He told Paul Henry that "We export more New Zealanders to Australia than any other country"

Sorry!? What? other countries are exporting Kiwis too? Nearly (but not quite) as embrassing as George W Bush's "Most of America's imports come from other countries"

Waitakere gutters run with mascara

The major side effect of the terrible thunderstroms on Monday night was that thousands of little Emo kids had their mascara run. Fall Out Boy, a US Emo band played Waitakere Trusts Stadium. Said Emo fans will have had their mascara run while waiting for the train/bus/mummy.

I predict the toxic spills unit will have to be despatched to West Auckland earlier in the week than usual (it is booked in for every weekend to clean up the diesel that is poured on the roads)
